In El Paso County, there's a concerning issue affecting a significant portion of the population. Approximately 35% of our neighbors are struggling with limited access to food. It's a challenging situation where many residents don't have a reliable and sufficient food supply.
Moreover, the problem extends to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) as well. Among UTEP students, a staggering 61% of them are experiencing food insecurity. They are facing difficulties in accessing enough food to meet their needs.
These statistics shed light on the hurdles faced by both the community and the students in terms of food access. It's crucial for us to take action and address this issue effectively, ensuring that everyone in El Paso County has equitable access to the food they require for their well-being.
