El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Home Delivery Program is conducted through a partnership with DoorDash that allows the food bank to deliver food to our most vulnerable homebound neighbors. This program is accepting applications for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Disabled/Homebound
- Seniors (60 years and older)
Home deliveries are for the entire household and consist of one box per household.
*Note: The Home Delivery Program and the waitlist are currently at capacity.
Partner Agency Food Pantries
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger relies on partnerships with more than 132 partner agencies to distribute food each week throughout El Paso, Culberson, and Hudspeth counties. Our partner agencies are authorized 501c3 organizations that include churches, soup kitchens, and shelters that help us distribute healthy food and continue the mission of making sure no one goes hungry.
Mobile Client Choice Pantries
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger uses its refrigerated trucks in collaboration with partner agencies to distribute nutritious food to a minimum of 100 families per site who live in underserved or unserved neighborhoods, including colonial.
The client choice distribution model allows participants the opportunity to "shop" for food and choose what they want and need. EPFH conducted 982 mobile pantry distributions in 2022 at a variety of locations including schools.
School Pantries
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger teams up with Communities in Schools, which allows families to access nutritious food at their neighborhood schools. These distributions occur at schools in neighborhoods with the highest need. Currently, there are school pantry sites within Tornillo ISD, Clint ISD, Ysleta ISD, Socorro ISD, and San Elizario ISD along with a partnership with Canutillo ISD that provide meals to students and their families within their community.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger provides food to 5,250 extremely low-income senior citizens in our community on a monthly basis. Through the CFSP, senior citizens are provided with nutritious food to help them maintain their health.
Many seniors that participate in this program are on a fixed income earning $750 a month. Too often, these vulnerable seniors have to make difficult decisions between paying for rent, utilities, and medicine, or purchasing food.
National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger proudly earned the Texas Department of Agriculture’s highly competitive contract to manage the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program (NSLP). This program provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost, or free lunches to children each school day. EPFH services 185,000 low-income children across 182 schools in seven West Texas counties, including El Paso, Culberson, Hudspeth, Brewster, Jeff Davis, Reeves and Presidio Counties.
With the volume of food reaching schools in West Texas dropping an unprecedented 50% over the past two years, and child food insecurity on the rise, with 1 in 3 children food insecure in our community, this partnership is vital.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger's SNAP Coordinators conduct outreach, including home visits, phone, and in-person assistance to clients with new and declined food stamp applications, as well as connecting those clients to other government benefit programs and referrals to community resources.
