"Be a Friend, Feed a Friend" Campaign

Last month, the "Be a Friend, Feed a Friend" campaign in collaboration with Albertsons, KVIA and El Pasoans Fighting Hunger helped raise $40,000 for the food bank. Over the course of the campaign, Albertsons customers had the option to donate money at the cash register or donate food to fill bins at each of the Albertsons' locations in El Paso.

At the Food Bank $1 provides 7 meals to a hungry individual. The funds raised through the campaign will provide 280,000 meals to vulnerable, food insecure individuals and families in our community. This comes at a particularly critical time as many El Paso children gear up summer vacation. A heartbreaking one in three children go to bed hungry each night in our community. For many of these children, the meals provided at school are the only meals they receive each day. The "Be a Friend, Feed a Friend" campaign is a vital component in helping ensure hungry children have access to healthy and nutritious food when they are most vulnerable while school is out of session.
