​Better Together Event Distributes Back Packs and Nutritious Food

El Paso Health, a locally operated non-profit health maintenance organization, in partnership with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, hosted a “Better Together” Back to School Drive-Thru event where attendees received not only food boxes from the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food bank but back packs for their children. The event was free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

“Our two organizations are aligned in our mission to serve the community. We are health care based and EPFH is a vital partner for us because the food bank promotes basic wellness, in line with our overall mission of overall wellness. We provide knowledge and EPFH provides nutritious food.” Stated Janel Lujan, Chief Operating Officer or El Paso Health.

“I look forward to this event every event. It’s a lot of work but we always have great volunteers who are in some way related to our El Paso staff family or community.” Commented Rosalinda Medina, Outreach Specialist, El Paso Health.

The backpacks for school-age children and food provisions for all families were loaded into participant’s cars at the drive-thru event.

“We always look forward to our back to school events at El Paso Health, but this year is special in that our partnership with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger allowed us to support their effort to feed families,” said Frank Dominguez, President and CEO of El Paso Health. “The health and wellness of our community is a priority for both of our organizations.”

“This is a welcomed collaboration to assist our community with food and school backpacks in a single distribution. We appreciate the work of El Paso Health and look forward to doing more together,” said Susan E. Goodell, CEO of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger.
