It all started on April 4, 2020, a little more than a year ago when the El Paso Community Foundation joined with the Get Shift Done initiative of northern Dallas to create Get Shift Done for El Paso.
At this time, displaced restaurant and hospitality workers started to work at eight El Pasoans Fighting Hunger supported food distribution sites across the Borderland.
Today Get Shift Done is assisting at the food bank, and the three primary distribution sites managed by the food bank (Holy Spirt Catholic Church, West Distribution and Nolan Richardson Recreation Center).
“We are so incredibly grateful for the partnership between the food bank, The El Paso Community Foundation and Get Shift Done. Their support has helped us distribute emergency food to those in our community who have needed it over the past year and both organizations continue to be strong partners with the food bank as we move forward to meet the continuing needs of our neighbors.” Stated Susan Goodell, CEO of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank.
Get Shift Smart workers have also been helping with the food bank’s home deliveries to homebound elderly, disabled individuals and those diagnosed with COVID – 19.
Get Shift Done workers have logged more than 102,000 hours working for the food bank and other primary food distribution sites. Eight hundred seventy-five displaced workers have benefited from Get Shift Done.
